Day of the workers of Ukrainian diplomatic service
This professional holiday appeared in November 2005, when the president of country signed the appropriate order. The date of holiday is dedicated to the anniversary of foundation of Secretary General’s Office of foreign affairs in 1917.
The history of diplomatic service development in Ukraine began from the times of Kievan Rus existence, which supported political relationship with many states: Poland, Hungary, Byzantine Empire, the German Empire, France, etc. Later, in Cossack period, international contacts of Ukraine were significantly expanded.
Nowadays the activity of diplomatic workers in Ukraine is very important, because currently this country is actively aiming to reach European integration. In order to emphasize on the significant role of Ukrainian diplomatic officials in establishment of Ukrainian state as the full-fledged player of international political stage, the Day of workers of Ukrainian diplomatic service is celebrated.
