In Belgium tourists will be offered to put prawns on horses
This tradition has been existing for almost five hundred years. The participants sitting on the back of horses in ripple inshore seas. For fishing only horses of Flemish sort (Brabancon) because of their strength and staminas.
Prawns capture is lasting for three hours. The fishermen get dressed in bright yellow oilcloth suits and hats-sou’westers. The horses are dressed in a special wooden mounts to which the wicker baskets.
In 2013 tradition was included in the UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
Equestrian catching of prawns is one of the various traditional festivals and events in Belgium. Thus, in the country during the whole year in different cities the beer festivals take place. First among them will open in February in Brugge. It is followed by international festival of beer geueze «Night of Great Thirst» (Pajottenland, April). As well, in April the tourists will be waiting for Leuven beer weekend and Zythos Beer Festival; in addition to that, in June in Antwerp Beer Passion Weekend takes place.
