UNESCO has recognized as the heritage the songs performed by Cossacks within the territory where Dnepropetrovsk region is situated now. It is reported at the web-site of the international organization.
The world organization makes an emphasis on the fact that Cossack’s songs need an urgent protection, at least, if the world does not want to lose the most beautiful musical heritage of Ukraine. At the web-site of UNESCO it is outlined that Cossack’s songs have still been performed in Dnepropetrovsk cultural communities where attention is given to the musical accompaniment and contextual component of the songs. The Cossack’s motives at the stated moment are performed by three bands which have names ‘Krynytsa’, ‘Boguslavochka’, and ‘Pervotsvet’. These songs depict the tough destiny of Cossacks, military service and isolation from the closest people. However, among the performers there are only aged people and it feels a lack of masters who could give these vocal traditions to the young ones. That is why Cossack’s songs of Dnepropetrovsk region are situated under the danger of extinction, and one has to make measure not to let this musical tradition sink into oblivion, as it is said at the web-site of UNESCO.
