Night of nostalgy in Uruguay
It is not certain who offered to arrange the Night of nostalgy (different names and conditions of this events occuring are known), but this is just the point that every year on the night of 24-th / 25-th of August in clubs and broadcasting stations of Uruguay you may hear “nostalgic music” of 1970-s, 1980-s, and recently also 1990-s.
In the middle 1980-s the Night of nostalgy became the highly advertised event, and in the course of time it gained such a popularity that Department of tourism of Eastern Republic of Uruguay even gave it official standing. Nowadays it is the favourite holiday of citizens and guests – it is even comparable with New Year.
The events dedicated to the Night of nostalgy happen not only in clubs and restaraunts, but also in some unexpectable place, for instance, in stocks and vineyards. Classics of Night of nostalgy became such hit songs as “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler, “Staying Alive” by band “Bee Gees”, etc. The hymn of event is the song “Last Train to London” by “Electric Light Orchestra”.
