Public transport in Germany could become free-of-charge

Автор: 04.03.2018 | Germany
Free-of-charge trip by buses, trams, and underground will appear in five German cities. To improve the ecology, the federal government of the country and regional municipalities are planning to extend the project to all the country.

Till the end of 2018, free-of-charge buses will have appeared in five cities of West Germany. Firstly, they will work in the trial regime. The innovation should improve the quality of air in German cities because free-of-charge public transport will reduce the number of private ways of transportation.

The ecology in Germany is being improved in other ways limiting harmful explosions from the buses and taxis, creating city zones with the low level of contamination and supporting the usage of car by the whole family.

Nevertheless, the idea to use public transport free-of-charge was supported by not all the city authorities of Germany. Mainly, because of potential wastes, the trip without payment will increase the flood of passengers. That’s why, the new route lines should be added, the park of buses and carriages have to become bigger while the number of personnel need be extended. As Bonne’s mayor Ashok Sridharan told, there is no producers who could bring the necessary amount of electric buses to fulfill the project like that.
