In Estonia on the 24-th of August, it is celebrated one of the most popular holidays – the Day of Pyartel (Pärtlipäev).
This holiday is dedicated to the beginning of fall and is commemorated since the 18-th century. The Day of Pyartel is connected with the gathering of rye abundance, beginning of potatoes harvest, and also with the start of sheep shearing.
On the Day of Pyartel in Estonia water becomes cold that means the end of bathing suit season. It points to the upcoming autumn. At the Pyartel Day in ancient times the Estonians started brewing beer, considering that hop plant gathered in this day obtains the final bitter taste.
