According to legend, the image creator Cedric Gibbons drew a sketch of a knight with a sword standing on a reel tape in his notebook during one of boring meetings.

The academics recognized the historical drama 12 Years a Slave as the Best film of the year. The Mexican Alfonso Cuarón was awarded for Best Director for his film Gravity.
