Labour Day in Jamaica

Автор: 23.05.2016 | world, Jamaica, holyday
On May 23 Jamaica celebrates Labour Day.

The said date was introduced due to slow pace of economic growth and the need to solve a wide variety of problems associated with the repair of hospitals, schools, police stations, roads.

Traditionally this day the island inhabitants work for free for the benefit of society. And although they realize importance of the event, each year the number of participants reduces since many islanders want just to relax from their everyday chores. Only tradition of cooking national dishes remains unchanged: salad with apples and chocolate, apricot soup with ice cream and Mexican rice.
