Ambassadors of Foreign Countries Participate “Story of One Testament” Project
18 Ambassadors of foreign states to Ukraine paid obeisance to Taras Shevchenko by taking part in a unique photo project “Story of One Testament”. The photo project was orchestrated within the framework of International Culture and Education Project Shevchenko’s Word Unites Us that unites dozens of diplomats around the personality of the Ukrainian genius second year ina row. This year it was dedicated to 202nd anniversary of the Great Kobza Player and 170th anniversary of The Testament being written.

Great Refusal Theory
The date of October 8th, 1906 remained in history as a symbol of the great refusal from well-deserved honours. Finnish writer Arvid Järnefelt receives a letter from Leo Tolstoy, he is eagerly tearing the envelope, looking at writing of Russian novelist “Please try to make it so that I would not be awarded with the Nobel Prize. If it was meant to happen, then it would be very unpleasant for me to refuse from it.”

With the assistance of the Embassy of Mexico in Ukraine was held a presentation of a book by Octavio Paz, a winner of Nobel Prize in Literature. The event was timed to observe the writer’s 100th anniversary.

Imprisonment changed root and branch of a magnificent wit and drew a sad line under his literary activities.
