My Heritage

Almost everybody among us from time to time thinks not only about the future but also about the past, particularly, about own ancestry. Unfortunately, the twenty-first century with two world wars destroyed not only many people but also documents because of what it is impossible sometimes to get at least certain data about the family. The founder of startup My Heritage Yuval Rakavy has built his concept verily on this topic as with the help of the project one is able to compound his family tree. This project brought to his author more than 50-million dollars which were invested into it by the numerous charitable and venture funds. Due to these expenditures Rakavy bought out and united many local similar web-sites and services only to create the global MyHeritage.com regarded as the most popular resource on genealogy. There is information of two billion people and in such a way approximately 30 millions of genealogical trees could be followed.

Eat With

This startup has been right to be called as ‘the most delicious’. His author is Daya Tolkatzir, and since youth she has been travelling what means trying local cuisines. As Daya says, the first what she was doing about the payment of hotel and purchase of tickets, she tried to search for the café to eat in the days of her wanderings. Unfortunately, even the popular applications and rankings sometimes disappoint us, and the food given in public catering seems to be not so much mouth-watering. In general, fastfoods and network cafes make all the cities similar that is why one needs to try to search for something local and appetite. This problem made Tolkatzir and her business partner think about the creation of the project Eat With. The essence of the project is that while travelling you get to the house of some local citizens registered in the application but not to the restaurant. In such a way the guest receives not only authentic food but also the company for the communication. The average bill makes approximately 40 dollars and 13% from this amount comes to the account of startup, however, other the rest of money come to the pocket of owners who are feeding you. Eat With attracted nearly 8 million dollars for its promotion and now this application is used in 160 cities located in thirty countries.

Roomer

One more startup that deprived tourists from another yet quite widespread headache was born from the personal experience of its creator, citizen of Israel Gon Ben-David. In 2010 he was going to far and fairy-tale Iceland and even booked the room in the hotel, however, he was not able to get there because of the volcano Eyjafjallajökull, as its serious ejection, as you remember, paralyzed almost all the flights over Europe. According to the conditions of booking (almost in all the hotels it is similar, particularly, one-sided and not in the side of the client), Ben-David could not return money from his upfront fee for the accommodation because his flight was cancelled in the last moment. Those days he came up with the idea that he is not the only person who tackles such problems, that is why he accurately investigated the situation and defined that annual rotation only of American hotel market makes nearly 150 billion dollars. In the meantime, nearly 6% from this amount (almost 10 billions) is the rooms booked in advance where guests could not get for different reasons. Taking into consideration all the existing rules and legislative acts, clients cannot return more than a third part of their payment, that is why quite a significant amount is blown off every day, especially when we take a global scale. Ben-David has created a service Roomer allowing to people to re-sell their book to other guests and return in such a way 75-80% from the spent money. Even considering that the verily service gets from 5 to 15% of commission after re-sale, people still get more money than they could be provided by hotel.

Yallo

When Internet along with numerous social media encountered our life actively, many futurologists predicted that phones are to die soon. However, this opinion has not only followers but also opponents who do not sit around. The creators of startup Yallo decided to reconsider the traditional calls adapting them to the new realities and technical progress. As the authors say, engineers not are concentrated mainly on the messengers and social media while nobody has worked conceptually over the telephone since the moment of its apparition. That is why Yallo offers principally different approach as users of the platform get a possibility not only to call free-of-charge absolutely from any places on the planet with the Internet but also use bigger number of useful functions. Among them there are possibility to inform addressee visually about the purpose of the call, record of the call, creation of conversation chats, automatic re-start of interrupted calls, establishment of call priority (for instance, the call of child automatically interrupts work or friendly conversation). The annual investments nearly four million dollars and bigger number of users prove that not only creators of Yallo who actively make service but also other people are quite optimistic in their view on the development of phone connection in twenty-first century.
