Within the framework of the Diplomatic Greetings project students from the School of Young Ukrainian Diplomat from Kharkiv and the School of Young Ukrainian Diplomat from Kyiv talked with the Ambassadors of Georgia and the Kingdom of Norway to Ukraine
In May 2016, OUTLOOK launched the Diplomatic Greeting project. Since December 2017, we are implementing this initiative on an ongoing basis with our official partner, the Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions. Diplomatic Greeting projects are different in their formats each time. There are held open lectures by ambassadors of foreign countries, tasting of traditional cuisines, master classes, excursions to embassies, visiting of diplomatic receptions, cultural and artistic events organized by diplomatic missions (concerts, cinema attendances, exhibitions, national holidays, meetings with prominent personalities of other countries, informal meeting with a foreign diplomatic corps).
At this time, the students, united by the program of the Kharkiv City Council - "School of Young Ukrainian Diplomat" and pupils of the "School of Young Ukrainian Diplomat" at the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, were able to visit the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Ukraine, to listen to the lecture of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Ole Terje Horpestad, as well as to visit the GDIP Media Center, where Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Ukraine Gela Dumbadze spoke about the features and details of the diplomatic service.
The main purpose of this project is to introduce future cultural scientists, diplomats, philologists to the basics of the diplomatic service from the inside, to exchange experience between experienced diplomats and young specialists, and to study the specifics of Ukrainian cultures on thematic events.
During the meeting with the students, the presentation of the GDIP Media Center and major publishing projects was organized by the head of the relevant division of the Directorate-General Inna Khomenska. Pavlo Krivonos told to future diplomats about the activities of the GDIP, having noted the main directions of the state enterprise, implemented projects with the participation of diplomats and to ensure their comfortable stay in Ukraine.
OUTLOOK Director-General Darya Karyakina, in turn, conducted a quiz for students that included questions on discipline and topics needed for a successful diplomat to work. Darya emphasized that knowledge of history, culture, intercultural relations, etiquette and languages would be useful for young people.
The best participants of the quiz received souvenirs from OUTLOOK and GDIP.
In past years, thanks to the organizational efforts of OUTLOOK and GDIP, students from the Petro Mohyla National Black Sea University (Mykolayiv), the National University of Ostroh Academy and the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts had meetings and direct contacts with foreign ambassadors. Ambassadors of Finland, Turkmenistan, Japan, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, as well as the Embassy of Pakistan in Ukraine participated in our project.
We would like to thank the Embassies-partners for their cooperation in spreading knowledge about diplomacy!
