Budva or Bar, staying in ethnic villages or fashionable resorts? The Embassy of Montenegro promotes tourism
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Montenegro to Ukraine, H.E. Mr Ljubomir Misurovic, in a welcoming speech noted that such business communications, is not only the opportunity to share information about the potential of his country in the field of tourism, but also, during b2b meetings, to open new promising projects for cooperation between the main players of this market.
Participants of the presentation were the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism of Montenegro, representatives of air carriers, airports and tour operators.
The head of the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro Zeljka Radak Kukavichich, emphasized that Montenegro has an indisputable status of the seaside resort, and the country has something to offer in other touristic spheres. Today, Montenegro is a winter skiing destination, and eco-tourism resort. The organization is trying to extend the holiday season so that it lasted all year round, and this is no longer just an ambitious dream, it is a well-considered successive work of the state. The main task of the National Tourism Organization is to create an attractive image of the country and promote the national tourist product.
The following cities are the most popular destinations: Budva, Bar, Herceg Novi, Kotor, Podgorica, Tivat.
Zeljka Radak Kukavichich noted: "The number of tourists who annually visit Montenegro is three times larger than the population of the country. Ukrainians prefer the summer season. As of 2018, the country has 415 hotel complexes." According to the head of the National Tourism Organization, the following competitive advantages of Montenegro can be distinguished:
- Crystal clear sandy beaches
- 5 national parks and 3 sites of world heritage
- Highlands
- The only fjord in the Mediterranean
- Wonderful entertainment and vibrant nightlife
- World class hotel complexes
- High quality food and wine
Within the framework of the event, there was presentations of the cities of Bar and Budva. Experts in this area noted that today travellers are increasingly interested in visiting events, such as the festival Summer with the Stars in Bar, or the Bar Chronicle in winter; they are also interested in contemplation of national parks, which are five in Montenegro. These are parks: Biogradska Gora, Durmitor, Lovćen, Skadar Lake, Prokletije.
Budva will offer its guests 20 sandy beaches, 6 months of swimming season. In 2018, 890 000 tourists visited Budva. By the way, the number of Ukrainian travellers has increased, compared with 2017, by 18 percent. 32 000 of our compatriots spent their holidays in that place.
In the tops of locations that have the greatest demand for a visiting in Montenegro is also Sveti Stefan - the same name island hotel. Such activities as rafting in mountain canyons, horseback riding, staying in ethno villages are among the favourites of experienced tourists.
