Diplomatic activity serves to bond, unit, and expand the borders between countries and cultures. In the frames of diplomatic mission, the ambassador is obliged not only to cultivate relationships with the representatives of the state where he is in the service but also to get familiar with his native country’s traditions as well as national holidays and features.
On the 28-th of March in the capital of Ukraine a solemn diplomatic reception of Pakistan Embassy happened. It was dedicated to one of the most important holidays of the country called as National Day.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan in Ukraine Athar Abbas extended a warm welcome to guests along with the colleagues from the diplomatic area. The heads of diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan, Moldova, USA, Turkey, India, Kuwait, Syria, Morocco, Mexico, Lebanon, Belorussia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Cuba, Iraq, Republic of South Africa, Sudan, Iran arrived to express their honor this day and join the holiday. Representative of church, expat communities, businessmen, general public, as well as mass media add the list of guests attending the holiday.
The 23-rd of March, 1940 became a turning point in the history of Pakistan. This day is known for a resolution accepted in Lahore – the document mentioned marked to start to the movement for creation of Islamic state in Southern Asia. That ended with the formation of Pakistan as the first in the world independent Islamic state where Islamic spirituality plays a significant role in the governing.
Officially this day in the country is acclaimed to be a day off. The holiday ceremonies start from the verily morning with the artillery salvo and salutes redoubling along the capital of the state – Islamabad as well as large cities of the country. Traditionally this day the President of Pakistan in his residence awards governmental leaders, sportsmen, representatives of science of culture. After official events in all the mosques there are collective prayers for prosperity, development and solidarity of nation. Throughout the country, people attend festive events, and organize special conferences, exhibitions, and festivals.
